Object - design data of of the fixed cutter bits; aim – efficiency increasing of drilling the directional and horizontal wells; methods – analytical estimation of an energy consumption by PDC bits on overall drilling economics for directional and horizontal wells, mathematical substantiation of PDC bit designs with low energy consumption, experimental researches and field tests of PDC bits; the novelty - a necessity of PDC bit designs for overall economics improvement of drilling directional and horizontal wells is justified for the first time, it is offered the PDC bit form with a round steps of a cutting part, the mathematical model is offered, drilling energy parameters are experimentally established, the PDC bit design with low energy consumption are offered; the results - design guidelines for development of PDC bits with low energy consumption, two PDC bit designs and four core bit designs were successfully tested and introduced.
