Essay

The dissertation is devoted to theoretical and experimental investigations on extraction of the organic mass from coals by a solvent at a room temperature and to establishing a method, on this base, for the determination of the grade of hard coals and for control of the component composition of coal concentrates and blends for coking. New techniques have been proposed in this work to obtain coal extracts for measuring their optical density. A pattern of variation in optical density of coal extracts has been established and the limits and average values of optical density of coal extracts have been determined for coals of all grades according to DSTU 3472-96. The developed method for the determination of the grade of hard coals and for control of the component composition of coal concentrates and blends for coking is characterized by its express nature and can be used at coke works for preliminary rapid control of the composition of coal concentrates supplied and blends for coking as well as for research purposes. Dependence were determined for coke strength indices upon the optical density of a blend extracts. It allowed to get optical values of D for the maximum strength index of M25 and to obtain the smallest abrasion for М10, particularly D = 0,28-0,35. The method developed has been introduced at the JSC "Dneprodzerzhinsky Coke Works" and JSC "Alchevskkors".
