Kuzan H. Metonymic shiftings in the manifestation of attributive, objective and subjective relations in the Ukrainian language

The object: phenomenon of metonymy. The aim: to analyse the nature of the metonymic processes in attribute combinations and of transitions between attributives adjectives and adverbial modifiers and of verb meaning; to reveal common and distinguishing features among different types of metonymic shifting; to make the classification of the metonymic shifting which will be common and unifying for different types of metonymy. Method: descriptive. Scientific novelty: for the first time the description of metonymy functioning with attention to lexical syntactical, lexical grammatical and structural syntactical aspects with the classification of their types was made. The sphere of utilization: in university courses of semantics, lexicology, stylistycs of modern Ukrainian literary language; while learning semantic-stylistical language phenomenon in the theory of poetic style in the language.
