Essay

The dissertation devoted to the problem of development of professional competence of geography teacher in the system of in-service teacher training. In it philosophical, psychological, pedagogical literature has been analyzed on the basis of which the essence of the notions "professional competence of geography teacher", "model of professional competence of geography teacher", "development of professional competence of a teacher", and also the content and structure of professional competence of a teacher have been specified. It is defined that the structure of professional competence of a teacher - is complex, integrated system, which consists of the interconnected and interdependent components and elements, namely: motivational (motives, interests, value orientations, needs), cognitive (knowledge), operational (skills), personal (personal qualities, readiness to reflection, ability to self-analysis and self-management). The investigation devoted to the development of the model of professional competence of geography teacher, which is not only the contextual basis of its development in the system of in-service teacher training, but also diagnostic. The development of professional competence of geography teacher needs the creation and implementation of necessary organizational and pedagogical conditions. The developed model and organizational and pedagogical conditions of professional competence have been experimental proved and their effectiveness is confirmed.
