The object of the investigation is the British proverbs as a means of MAN and WOMAN concepts verbalisation. The aim of the thesis is to detertmine the regulative potential of the British proverbs as a means of MAN and WOMAN concepts verbalisation. The methods includes frame modelling for ideographic parameterisation of the gender concepts, cognitive-pragmatic interpretation of the utterances meaning for distinguishing between explicature, implicature and presupposition of the proverbs, quantitative analyses for calculation and comparison of quantitative correlation of the proverbs which presents various ideographic parameters of the concepts studied. The scientific novelty of the paper lies in the fact that for the first time the cognitive-pragmatic analyses of the regulative potential of the British proverbs as a means of MAN and WOMAN concepts verbalisation was carried out and a system of gender-specific behaviour directions rendered by the proverbs was discovered. The subsequent development of the human behaviour lingual regulation theory on the bases of the British proverbs as a means of gender concepts verbalisation research proves the theoretical meaning of the investigation. Its results contributes to the cognitive linguistics, pragmalinguistics, gender linguistics. They may be used in lectures on lexicology, general linguistics, theoretical English grammar.
