Essay

The objects of investigations are 26 gooseberry varieties and 14 perspective hybrid forms of different ripening periods. The aim is to select early ripening high productive varieties, resistant to diseases agents, favourable for modern technologies, possessing valuable economic and biological properties, in order to improve the existing assortment and increase the small fruits production, the efficiency of growing being high. The methods of carrying out the investigations are field, laboratory - field and laboratory experiments based on received agronomic, physiological, economic and statistical methods of results processing. Novation is that for the first time complex investigation of biological properties of 40 cvs as to high yielding and actual productivity for the production conditions has been done; the level of the new varieties adaptability to the Right-bank Lisosteppe conditions has been determined. The author has established the level of these cultivars resistance to the most spread diseasesand the degree of pricks forming. The photosynthesis productivity has been determined in the experimental way. New high productive cultivars and hybrid forms of different ripening terms suitable for mechanic harvesting have been selected for growing in farms of different property forms. Theoretical and practical results. 8 varieties (among them 2 ones of the Mlyiv Institute of Horticulture selection, the dissertant being co - author) of different ripening terms have been singled out for growing in farms of different property forms. 5 perspective high productive hybrids have been proposed for a wide production testing. Varieties - pollinizers for new cvs and varieties for mechanized harvesting have been recommended. Varieties possessing valuable economic and biological properties have been selected, allowing to extend the genetic basis of the breeding process. The principal scientific ideas of the thesis have been introduced into production by the experimental farm of the Symyrenko Mlyiv Research Institute of Horticulture (UAAS), ACLtd "Iskra" and agrofirm "Druzhba" in the Cherkasy region. The branch is agriculture.
