Objects of investigation: 5-acetyl-4-aryl-3,4-dihydropyrimidin-(1H)-2-ones and their derivatives: reactivity and methods of obtaining. The aim: study of reactivity of 5-acetyl-4-aryl-3,4-dihydropyrimidin-(1H)-2-ones(thiones) and methods of their derivatives obtaining. The methods: organic synthesis, TLC, HPLC, NMR-, IR- and MS-spectroscopy, elemental analysis, RSI. Scientific novelty: a synthetic potential of 5-acetyl-4-aryl-3,4-dihydropyrimidin-2-ones(thiones), caused by presence of such reaction centers, as COCH3-group in position 5 of cycle, N(1)H- and N(3)H-groups, C(2)=S-group, is discovered. Application: activation of 5-acetyl group of Biginelli compounds, which consist of alkylation of N(1)-position of heterocycle, let develop suitable methods of synthesis of 5-cynnamoyl, 5-(4,5-dihydropyrazol-3-yl)- and 5-(1,3-thiazol-4-yl)derivatives, and derivatives of hexahydro-1H-pyrazolo[3,4-d]pyrimidin-6-one.
