The thesis is dedicated to the investigation of modern Ukrainian society in stratification sphere. It analyses the major theoretical and methodological approaches to the investigation of society from the viewpoint of social inequality. The analysis of the results of stratification research in Ukraine is carried out; the peculiarities of its methodology and correspondence to transition conditions are pointed out.
