Essay

The thesis deals with the philosophical sense in Ferdinand de Saussure's and Roman Jakobson's linguistic conceptions in their historical, theoretical and meth-odological aspects. The author defined the mutual influence of philosophy and lin-guistics. Special attention is focused on the problem of the transition of sense phi-losophy to language philosophy that is typical for XX century. The author proved that modern language philosophy forming is firmly connected with the usage of Saussure's ideas about the division of language and speech as well as synchronism and diachronism. Furthermore the additions and specifications to Saussure's concep-tions made by R. Jakobson are taken into consideration, the recomprehention of lan-guage interpretation as synchronical and diachronical values and definition of uni-versal language essence in particular. The author comes to the conclusion that there exists some relationship and interdependence between linguistics and such philoso-phical trends as structuralism, poststructuralism and phenomenology.
