The thesis is devoted to research of efficiency of mechanisms of the people power in a context of maintenance of internal political security. Ways of realization of the sovereignty of the people in the modern countries, conditions that influence their efficiency are analyzed. The revealed and shown factors which reduce efficiency of mechanisms of the people power in Ukraine. As a result of the carried out analysis of a political situation in Ukraine ways of neutralization of the internal political threats are offered.
