Objekt is story "Shadows of Forgotten Forefathers" by M.Kotsiubynskyi. Aim -- consists in integrated investigation of the text of story "Shadows of Forgotten Forefathers" by M.Kotsiubynskyi in the context of Ukrainian literature neomithologism of the end XIX -- bedinning of the XX th centuries. Methodological base is mithological (archetypycal) criticism. Methods are comparative-typological, comparative-historical, psyhoanalitical.Novelty and results -- the new interpretation of the classic story "Shadows of Forgotten Forefathers" by M.Kotsiubynskyi has been realized (1) base of myth-symbolism theory and main priciple of symbolic forms conception by E.Kassirera, and (2) in the typological comparison with magic drama "Forest Song" by Lesia Ukrainka, drama "Over the Dnieper" by Oleksandr Oles', drama " Story of the Old Mill" by S.Cherkasenko. Sphere of application -- history and theory of literature.
