Essay

The thesis focuses on studying the value and sense sphere of women who use subsidiary reproductive technologies (SRT). There has been suggested a theoretical model of maternity where a value and sense block takes the central place. When studying the state of maternal sphere, value and sense orientations as well as individual and psychologic characteristics it has been determined that certain transformations conditioned by the imbalance between the main values of the maternal sphere - the woman's proper "to be a mother" and the value of child as such - are in favour of the first in the value and sense sphere of women when getting over sterility. Expectation of a child and proper maternity are affective, at the same time the image of a child and one's own image as a mother lose concrete characteristics and are excluded from the consciousness. It takes place a removal from pregnancy as a way of achieving maternity to pregnancy as an independent aim which has supervalue characteristics; to achieve the aimbecomes meaning of life. The transformation results in the maternal sphere sense uncertainty. The recommendations for psychologic management of women who use SRT have been developed on the basis of the obtained results. The recommendations specify psychologic issues, main tasks and the consultant's activity at every stage of SRT.
