Govbakh I. The Clinico-diagnostic and Therapeutic Features of Epilepsy in the Patients of Elderly Age

On the basis of complex inspection and medical treatment of 141 epilepsy patients the characteristics of etiologic factors, clinical flow, instrumental diagnostics and therapy of elderly epilepsy patients have been specified. The special clinical features of epilepsy of elderly patients are the development of the disease as a result of cerebrovascular diseases; the predomination of partial complex epileptic attacks of moderate frequency; the complicated post-attack period. The special features of instrumental diagnostics of epilepsy of elderly patients have been determined with the use of electroencephalographic, dopplerographic and neurovisual research. The therapeutic features of epilepsy of elderly patients have been revealed on the basis of efficiency determination of the differentiated anticonvulsive mono-therapy by Valproat acid, Carbamazepin and Lamotridgin depending on the type of attacks; the optimum daily dosage of the given antiepileptic preparations; the complications of anticonvulsive mono-therapy; preparations of pathogenic therapy of symptomatic epilepsy; the efficiency of the complex anticonvulsive and pathogenic therapy of symptomatic epilepsy.
