Physical-chemical processes, which occur in natural-technogenic system of landfills and waste dumps of municipal solid waste (MSW) have been studied in the Thesis. Conditions of adsorption of heavy metals by the rocks of aeration zone of the Kyiv MSW landfill and by separate clay minerals from leachates have been determined. It has been proved that the main mechanism of iron and aluminum absorption from leachates is heterocoagulation of colloids on the particles of clay minerals. It has been demonstrated that in case of applying the heterocoagulation processes we can make the amount of heavy metals in leachates of landfills and MSW dumps considerably less and in this way to decrease the probability of their ingress to trophic chains. It has been proved that under such a system of coagulation colloidal particles will capture and co-precipitate hazardous mixtures.
