Essay

The thesis is devoted to forming lexical competence with students majoring in International Economics using interactive means of teaching. The methodology of teaching students English economic terms as a prerequisite for practical mastering of Business English has been theoretically substantiated and practically worked out. As a result of thorough analysis of special pedagogic literature, basic concepts of interactive formation of lexical competence have been formulated. Major didactic, psychological and linguistic peculiarities of forming lexical competence and teaching economic vocabulary by active involvement and interaction of all students in the studying process have been described. Using defined criteria, a list of economic terms to be learnt by the 4th year students has been compiled. A complex of exercises to practice and master economic vocabulary together with a proper model of teaching students have been elaborated and experimentally verified. The results of experimental teaching have been corroborated with the methods of mathematics and statistics. The methodological recommendations on organizing the process of interactive teaching of economic vocabulary and forming lexical competence have been developed. Suggested methodology has been applied in practice in four higher educational establishments in Ukraine
