The dissertation is dedicated to the study of the factors and conditions stipulating the peculiarity of the town-planning structures of the southern cities of Ukraine. The aim is to determine the key principles of formation of the architectural public-housing complexes in the southern cities of Ukraine using the cities of Kherson, Nikolayev, and Odessa as examples. The urban development complexes, as the examples of integral architectural-spatial and artistic-aesthetic environment, have been considered. The definition of the notion of public-housing complex PHC) as a structural element of the framework of the town-planning system of the historical part of the city has been developed.
