Materials of the Ukrainian ethnic press in North America are analysed in terms of their focus on a range of issues of US-Ukrainian relations after the World War II, especially in politics, culture, economy and human rights. The author's analysis has been based on original sources from the Ukrainian ethnic press in North America covering more than 20 newspapers, magazines and journals, as well as on official documents from the Libraries of the U.S. Presidents and Congress. Use of the information, analytical and publicist genres is studied as far as the main areas of Ukrainian-US relations are concerned. Special focus has been put on the official Washington's main motives in its policy towards Ukraine both as part of the USSR and independent nation. Based on the genre paradigm, analysed is coverage of the whole range of US-Ukrainian relationships by the Ukrainian ethnic press. Various genres of journalism are considered as tools for communicating well-balanced, impartial and unbiased journalists' view onvital issues.
