Results: specific composition, distribution, seasonal dynamics of Ixodidae ticks have been studied in the conditions of forest-steppe and steppe areas of Kharkov region. It has been stated that Ixodes ricinus and Dermacentor reticulatus are carriers of Borrelia burgdorferi s.l., Babesia microti, Ehrlichia phagocytophila geno group, Bartonella spp., Rickettsia spp., Toxoplasma gondii. Method of detection of Borrelia burgdorferi s. l. in biological samples has been recommended to diagnose Lyme disease. The scheme to control ticks and protect animals from Ixodidae ticks has been improved. Optimum terms of animal treatment with the use of new highly-effective acaricides have been determined. Field of application: veterinary medicine.
