Mykolajchuk M. The peculiarities of psychosocial development of handicapped children siblings.

The dissertation contains theoretical analysis of factors of psychological development of an individual in the context of handicapped sibling interaction. Besides it contains empirical research of self-image, components of psychoemotional sphere, character features and adaptation of disabled children siblings. It has been proved, that such children endure considerable emotional and social hardships. Individual and social factors which have negative influence in psychosocial development under such circumstances have been analyzed. The author has developed and introduced the programme of psychological correction with primary school age siblings of handicapped children. It contains the programme of parents support groups and psychocorrection. The psychocorrection is aimed at harmonizing relationships with a handicapped sibling, increasing his/her self-esteem, as well as adaptation resources.
