Essay

Research Object: Ecological and economic processes of formation of the criteria and indicators of sustainable forestry development in Ukraine. Research Objective: The improvement of criteria and indicators' system as estimating tool of the progress towards sustainable forestry development in Ukraine. Research Methods: Induction and deduction, complex and system approach, nonparametric research methods, statistics. Scientific Novelty: For the first time substantiated - the system of indicators, which describe the ecological balance and socio-economic potential of the mountain ecosystems in Carpathian and Crimea regions; improved - quantitative indicators of Ukrainian sustainable forestry development; improved - indicators of using legislative, financial, economic, organizational and informative instruments for Ukrainian sustainable forestry development; improved - methodical approaches to the expert evaluation of forest management compliance to the principles and criteria of sustainability on local management level. Implementation: Research results are used in Lviv regional forest management administration and "Galsillis" to improve regional forest policy and efficiency of forest management. Research results are also used in teaching academic courses "Natural Resource Economics" and "Forest Policy" at Bachelor and Master level in National Agrarian University of Ukraine.
