Umrikhina L. Semantics of an optative and ways of its expresson in modern Ukranian language

The object is syntactic structures with optative meaning; the objective ? determination of the optative as a subjective modal meaning and fining means of its representation in syntactical structures of the Modern Ukrainian Language; the methods ? descriptive, transformational, comparative, compositional analysis; novelty ? for the first time in Ukrainian Linguistics on the basis of extensive evidence semantic, structural and communicative aspects of the optative representation in syntactical structures have been researched; modal character of sentences with optative meaning has been determined; criteria for differentiation between the optative and related phenomena have been defined; bank of semantic modifications of the optative as well as means of the optative representation in a sentence have been identified; principal structural types of optative sentences have been described; the results are the system analysis of an optative in view of its semantics and formal expression is carried out; it is found out, that the optative is subjective-modal value which essence is the imagined (irreal) situation which probability of realization at the moment of speech is not certain, however such realization could satisfy requirements of the sender of speech so is desirable for it; at a speech level the optative is presented in the form of optative statements, on is formal-syntactic optative offers; in a basis of formal expression of an optative the desirable way lays morphologic-syntactic, namely optative mood; the area is syntax.
