Essay

The research is devoted to the conceptualisation of the evolution of theoretical representation of connection between the lifestyles of social groups and their position in the social structure. By means of comparative analysis, the author designates the directions of the evolution of theoretical representation of such connection. This evolution has two start points (the conceptions of Th. Veblen and M. Weber) and two macro-directions respectively. In the integrative principles the author says: a) that such connection is represented as a co-influence of two phenomena; b) that Th. Veblen, M. Weber, L. Ionin and P. Bourdieu consider the lifestyle of a social group as one of the main factors, that determines their social esteem and authority; c) that all scientists agree, that the lifestyles of social groups are always regulated by their socioeconomic status and also by the dominant system of values and norms.
