Essay

The paper applies the integrative approach to the theory of intertextuality, text linguistics, and linguostylistics to reveal the intertextual potential of the pre-text Alice in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll, focusing on its intertext as linguostylistic means that realize it in secondary texts as a result of intertextual contacts. The paper specifies the foundation of the theory of intertextuality to identify the pre-text as a linguistic and cultural phenomenon, as well as the mechanism of its realization during intertextual contacts; presents a typology of pre-texts; reveals the intertextual potential of the dilogy by Lewis Carroll as a pre-text and a secondary text; classifies its aspects of precedence; and suggests a structural semantic classification of its intertext represented by allusions and quotations and its stylistic potential.
