Object is an architectural environment of city with the components of landscapes; a purpose is development of the scientifically-grounded principles of ecological and aesthetical properties improvement of large cities architectural environment.; methods – historical-genetic analysis, comparative and factor analysis, idealized models, induction and deduction; newness - the criteria of comfort of architectural environment of city are specified, the features of recreation and economic potential of different types of territories of the irrationally used territory, principles of organization of architectural environment of city are developed in the conditions of improvement of its ecological and aesthetical properties; results - the contemporary state of science and practice analysis on this subject under consideration is carried out, the tasks of ecological and aesthetical properties improvement and architectural environment comfort criteria are specified, the total potential peculiarities of irrationallyused territories are defined, basic require-ments to ecological and aesthetical improvement of different types of irrationally used territories are found out, the principles of ecological and aesthetical properties improvement of architectural environment are developed at the city and local levels; degree of adoption – at designing proposes, at working design; sphere application – educational designing, architectural designing.
