The thesis focuses on the complex structural-semantic analysis of the national-cultural specificity of phraseological units with colour component in Modern German. The mechanism of forming the national-cultural semantics of the units in question within the framework of both primary and secondary phraseme building processes has been described. The functions of colour nominations in the global phraseological semantics of phraseological units with colour component have been highlighted. The productivity of certain colour names in the formation of phraseological units with colour component has been traced. The significance of the national-cultural component in the semantic structure of the units under study has been determined. The peculiarities of the phraseological units with colour component functioning in the national colour language picture of the world have been considered. The influence of extralinguistic factors on the national-cultural semantics of the German phraseological units with colour component has been analyzed. The phraseological units with colour component borrowed from other languages within the German lingual picture of the world have been distinguished.
