The dissertation focuses on the development of the Russian language listening skills of English-speaking students with science as the major. In the paper the notions of listening comprehension and listening skills are highlighted. The analyses of theoretical principles of teaching listening comprehension as the type of language skills made it possible to define the components of the experimental teaching and to construct its model. The research revealed the most effective methods and ways of teaching listening comprehension; audiotext work stages.
