Essay

Computational linguistics is a modern branch of applied linguistics which can be viewed as a complex discipline. The subject of computational linguistics is the modeling of natural languages used in the computer-aided systems for text processing, i.e. for the linguistic processes. Computational linguistics as a complex branch is developing successfully first of all in the interaction with general, structural, applied, mathematic, engineering linguistics, as well as with information science and cybernetics. The Ukrainian version of the terminology system of the applied (computational) linguistics has not been analyzed and systematized so far. This fact caused the purpose of the dissertation. This is a complex analysis of the Ukrainian terminology in the field of applied (computational) linguistics carried out on the basis of logical-notional, semantic and derivational relations and, as a result, its presentation as a terminology system in a specialized thesaurus dictionary. Nowadays thesaurus models ofa dictionary are the best models, firstly, for the systems of automatic analysis of texts (information - searching system, machine translation, workstation etc.), secondly, for such kinds of work as translation, research and teaching.
