Essay

The thesis focuses on the analysis of communicative and pragmatic peculiarities of the New Greek legislative texts by studying the specific features of their cohesion and coherence, by conducting a comprehensive analysis of the system of linguistic means and of the ways of their use by the addresser of the legislative message, which enables him to attain the pragmatic goal of the legislative communication. Linguistic features and structural organisation of the texts in question are viewed considering such pragmatic components of any type of communication as the addresser, the addressee, the communicative intention, the pragmatic goal, the presupposition, the context as well as the peculiarities of language situation in Greece characterised by parallel existence of the New Greek language up to recent years in two functional variants - the colloquial demotic and the bookish katharevousa.
