Essay

The dissertation is devoted to the results of thee year researches of separate elements of growing technology of white cabbage of late-ripening varieties and hybrids in the western Forest-Steppe zone of Ukraine. The economical and biological estimation of different varieties and hybrids of white cabbage was made. The following varieties and hybrids were studied: the type of Amager (Amager 611 - control, Olga, Ukrainian autumn, Yaroslavna, Brigadir F1) and the type of Langendeyker winter (Langendeyker winter - control, Violanta, Knyaginya, Kaunt F1, Marabu F1. Their productivity, heads weight and biochemical composition was measured. On the basis of economical valuable characteristics the best varieties for planting with and without seedling were chosen. Also the best varieties of late-ripening white cabbage for storage and processing were selected. Sowing of the seeds of white cabbage at the first decade of May promotes the highest productivity of variety Knyaginya (69.1 t/ha) and allowed to obtain theyield of high quality, suitable for a long storage. Optimal rates of mineral fertilizers N120Р120К120 with 40 t/ha of manure application at variant with crop density 31.7 th. plants per ha provide in the highest yield and good quality of the production. The application of the new organic fertilizer "Dominanta" at the rate of 8-10 t/ha allowed to get the yield of 50.1-56.3% comparing with control. The data of researches were included in the practical recommendations for intensive technology of white cabbage cultivation in the western part of Forest-Steppe zone of Ukraine.
