Essay

For the first time the given thesis gives complex study of Ukrainian character of Cain's Mythologem receptions. The author explores the process of fratricide motif, its preservation and realization in works of literature. Attention is raid to the forms and methods of different interpretation of traditional Cain's motif, typical for romanticism, modernism, postmodernism. The author defines versatile influence of social-ideological, national-historical, moral-psychological factors upon the character of brothers' confrontation motif in the works of Ukrainian writers of the XIX - XX centuries.
