Essay

The present thesis is the first one in Ukraine that investigates the outlined forms of intertextuality in their integrity as a certain world outlook system which deals with the structuring of a literary text. An attempt of further specification as well as clarifying the dependence of Byron's forms of intertextuality on semantic paradigms they are produced by has been made. All of these activities involve the use of branches of knowledge which are embedded in the flow of intertextual, oneiric and archetype practices. The Byronian forms of intertextuality have been divided into two groups namely the dominating forms and the peripheral or marginal forms. Accounts of Byron's intertextuality tend to take as their prototype the ontological models that have been developed in the metatextual forms such as archetypes and oneiric patterns, the contextual and textual forms. The dominating forms of intertextuality are the ones which determine originality of Byron's intertextuality. Oneiric intertextuality within the system of romantic world outlook plays a dominant role, is caused by cultural and historical background, has philosophical basis, and is characterized by prophesy, paralogical causality, cinematographic nature, time and space modifications, the other world imagery. Vivid examples of night, moon and darkness poetics add up to, amplify and enrich oneiric discourse. Upon further analysis, we have concluded that first, Byron's dream is presented as another reality and second, Byron assumes that a dream is not all a dream. Besides, his dreams tend to have some cosmic character and planetary world outlook.
