Essay

The object of research is language and power in postcolonialism discourse. The aim is to understand global/local dichotomy in modern postcolonial discourse on the example of colonizing/colonized language dichotomy. The methods – power relation postcolonial analysis, postcolonial studies methodology, phenomenological, functional and structural analysis, comparison and system analysis method, inter(lingua)cultural comparison method, statistical data method. The theoretical results of the thesis and its novelty. There has been realized the division of postcolonialism epoch English discourse into three types, among which “postcolonialism” discourse is the colonizing/colonized language dichotomy overcoming. There has been realized gairaigo and japanisms deconstruction as material/symbolic power of global/local languages. The practical significance of the thesis. lResearch materials may be used in special courses on (Lingua)cultural Studies, Culture Theory, Philosophy of Culture, Postcolonial Studies, Intercultural Communication, Linguistics, Discourse Analysis, and also theoretical subjects such as English and Japanese teaching.
