Essay

The thesis is devoted to evaluation of influence of pancreatic islet and stem cell cultures' transplantation on pathogenesis of experimental diabetes mellitus in rats. The peculiarities of carbohydrate and lipid metabolism, changes in morphology of endocrine part of pancreas and diabetic microangiopathy severity after cell transplantation were studied. It's stated that intraperitoneal transplantation of mentioned cultures' leads to improving of all investigated data: decreasing of hyperglycemia and dislipidemia, increasing of insulin level, inhibiting of microangiopathy progress. The basis of these changes is acceleration of endocrine pancreas tissue regeneration that appears as elevation of specific volume of islet tissue and number of insulin-producing cells. It was shown that mechanisms of investigated cell cultures influence are different. The obtained results are experimental foundation for usage of cell cultures' transplantation for treatment of insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus.
