In the dissertation comprehensively and integrally based upon the widest possible circle of sources the position which Pushkin occupied in the spiritual world in Herzen's works and letters, and Herzen's activity as a publisher and propagandist of Pushkin's works in the West are analyzed. The topic under consideration is in cluded not only in the sphere of hertzenology but also pushkinology. Mastering and refraction of Pushkin's works in the spiritual world of Herzen can extend con siderably our views about Pushkin's position in the ideological life of Russian in the XIX century. In the dissertation the first attempt is made to monographical ly research the position which belongs to Pushkin in the Herzen's spiritual and literary world and his pub lishing activity. The circle of researched materials is extended.
