Fedotova N. Modern Nicknames of Luhansk Region: Cognitive Pragmatics of Producing the Text of Onym

Subject: nicknames of the citizens of Luhansk region. Aim: to investigate the contemporary Luhansk nicknames in the aspect of text-forming and the Communication Theory and find out their functioning peculiarities as compressed texts. Methods and ways: descriptive method and the method of distributive, component, and transformational analysis; modeling the semantic structure of a nickname and its sign nature; psycholinguistic experiment and free associations; quantitative analysis of the responses of the experiment’s participants and their interpretation; questionnaires and interviews. Results, novelty: a nickname is considered in the aspect of text-forming; there introduced a complex approach to revealing the general basis of structural and semantic theory of nicknames, which is based on taking into account a speech area of producing and functioning of this type of onyms; the contemporary nicknames of Luhansk region are analyzed in psycho- and sociolinguistic aspects in the context of the problem ofhuman consciousness development and within the bounds of the modern Text and Communication Theory.
