Svetlichnaya E. pathological and patho-psychological peculiarities of the children and adolescents, that are sick with epilepsy causing intellectual deterioration, and their correction

In this dissertation research the clinico-psychopathological and patho-psychological peculiarities of 120 children and adolescents, that were sick with epilepsy causing various levels of intellectual deterioration, have been examined, and the principles of the differentiated therapy have been designed. The experimental-psychological approach to studying mental deviations has given the possibility to uncover the clinical-pathological evidence of above mentioned pathology in the age aspect. The work has demonstrated that the profiles of the pathology among the children and adolescents have correlated among themselves, but have had the differences in the frequency of the symptoms under various degrees of intellectual deterioration. Uncovered peculiarities of these pathologies have defined the necessity of using the complex treatment along with the drug treatment, psycho-therapeutical and psycho-correction methods. This complex led to lessening of the mental pathologies, stabilization of the state of thepatients with epilepsy with the light and moderate intellectual deterioration.
