Essay

The thesis is devoted to the complex analysis of myth and music as the basic and forming component of culture. Myth and music are principally viewed as a single whole. Myth is the basis of forming and developing music. Music is the mean of expression and transformation of myth. It is an integral part of human life and specific form of world attitude and world outlook. In the research it is asserted that firstly, myth and music is fundamental sign system, determining consciousness and thought, word view, values and senses modality of human and society's life and which is stipulated by them; secondly they have direct relation to suggestive and manipulative strategies. Three basic strategies of suggestive and manipulative impact: contrast (binary archetypical opposition), repetition (variety of archetypical patterns) and referring to emotions (universality and spontaneity) are distinguished. Creative, philosophically theoretical and musical heritage of Richard Vagner is used as illustrative material.
