Dissertation gives the basic information of scientific achievements of I.Pan'kevych (1887—1968) as a linguist in connection with showing the major landmarks of scientist’s biography. Estimations, expressed by different researchers, are systematized, rich inheritance of linguist, the signs of the high scientific rating of his labours are found out from dialectology, onomastics, history of language, maintenance is analysed and the value of labours of I.Pan'kevych is determined in fields of grammar, orthography, the results of long-term labour of scientist are probed in preparation of large dialectal dictionary of Transcarpathian patois, in edition of the “Ukrainian General encyclopaedia”.
