Shandra A. Application of radon halfbaths in complex restorative treatment of elderly patients with ishaemic heart disease

Dissertation covers the study of possibilities and clinico-pathogenetic approvement of application of radon half-baths in treatment of elderly patients with ischaemic heart disease and concomitant pathologies (arterial hypertension, diabetes mellitus, deforming osteoarthrosis).Analysis of 860 case histories demonstrated that 20 % of patients with ischemic heart disease who were treated in the balneologic hospital of Znamyansk, were elderly people with concomitant pathologies such as arterial hypertension, diabetes mellitus, deforming osteoarthrosis. New results about possibility and expedience of radon therapy of ischemic heart disease in patients of elderly age have been obtained. Positive influence of radon half-baths on ischemic heart disease clinical course in elderly patients, status of electric activity of the myocardium, central and cerebral hemodynamic, processes of thermoregulation are revealed. Reduction of high arterial pressure in patients with complexarterial hypertension, improvement of sugar and lipid metabolism in patients with diabetes mellitus of II type, decreased manifestations of inflammation and clinical manifestations of deforming osteoarthrosis are proved. It is shown that application of radon half-baths from the source in Znamyansk increases the effectivity of treatment of patients with ischemic heart disease and concomitant pathologies, prevents complications of drug therapy and progression of diseases in elderly people, improves patients’ physical efficiency and quality of life.
