The object - polycultural competence forming in junior pupils; the aim - to theoretically substantiate and experimentally check the didactic conditions of forming polycultural competence in junior pupils; the methods - theoretical analysis, pedagogical experiment, diagnostics, questionnaires, conversation, observation, mathematic processing of data; the novelty - the essence of the notion "polycultural competence", which is understood as a multicomponent personality characteristic, formed as a result of polycultural education, based on the theoretical knowledge and objective ideas about the ethnocultural varieties of the world, functioning within skills, habits and behaviour models, providing for the interaction with the representatives of different peoples and cultures on the basis of the positive (tolerant) attitude to them and within the process of acquiring the experience of multicultural interaction, which in turn facilitates the effective multiethnic interaction in the modern polycultural environment, has been grounded for the first time; its structural components (cognitive, affective, operational, behavioral) and didactic conditions of forming polycultural competence in junior pupils have been studied; the results - introduction of theoretical theses and practical recommendations into the teaching process; elaboration of the teaching manual "Ethnic Variety in Ukraine"; use of the materials of the dissertation by the students for writing their diploma and course papers and in the process of professional development of school teachers; speciality - Theory of Teaching
