Essay

The object is Joseph Hillis Miller's (1928) scientific creative heritage (1958-2001). The purpose is to reveal the role of European phenomenology (The Geneva School) and deconstruction in establishing J.H. Miller as a literary critic. The methods are based on the several types of comparative analysis usage - contacts analizing, typological, genetical; on systematic and descriptive methodiques. The critic's role in establishing and developing of phenomenological criticism and deconstruction in their American modification under the Geneva School influence of "criticism of consciousness", particularly George Poulet's "criticism of consciousness", and deconstructive assumptions of Jacques Derrida and Paul de Man is emphasized. Within the boundaries of the theme mentioned there were pointed out genetic phenomenology and deconstruction foundations as well as the problems they have. It has been shaped the terminological set in the process of popular works by J.H. Miller analysing. Due to the investigation executed the role of Miller's elaborations (phenomenological and deconstructive) lies in the fact that his researches have the reverse significance: based on the Old World scientific traditions, they enriched, reconsidered, transformed retuned to European scientific circulation. The application sphere of the factual material introduced into the scientific circulation - teaching process of theoretical and practical courses.
