The dissertation is dedicated to the comprehensive examination of theoretical and practical issues related to the means of protection of rights of securities owners based on the administrative law. The dissertation defines the status of the State Commission for Securities and Stock Market as a leading executive agency with special powers tasked with protecting rights of securities owners, defines a system of means of protection of rights of securities owners based on the administrative law, and suggests a new categorisation thereof that has important scientific theoretical and practical implications; the paper also examines the competence and activities of self-regulated organisations in the field of the application of means of protection of rights of securities owners based on the administrative law. The author reviews the issues in his paper that are related to the illegitimate hostile takeovers and acquisitions of joint stock companies ("corporate raids") in Ukraine and the ways to resist hostile takeovers of joint stock companies in case of the involvement of professional securities market members (such as registrars and custodians) and/or officers of the joint stock company into the corporate conflict.
