Essay

The dissertation is devote to left ventricular hypertrophy (LVH) assessment at patients with metabolic syndrome (MS), make use of two left ventricular mass (LVM) indexations. On the base of complex investigation it was discovered that using LVM indexation as LVM/ height2,7 is more optimal than LVM/body surface area for evaluation of patients with high cardiovascular risk. There was established, that patients with MS showed gender and age specific features of LVH. Older women (>50 y.) have a higher prevalence of LVH and a more concentric geometric pattern (34%) than men (24%). Associations of LVM and carbohydrate disorders at patients with MS were studied. Univariate (р<0,001) and multivariate (р<0,02) correlation LVM with fasting glucose level were shown. The efficiency of antihypertensive drag combination (quinapril and hydrochlorthiazide) for correction of discovered disturbances of blood pressure and LVM and LVM indexation for residual LVH evaluation were appraised.
