Essay

The thesis discusses interpenetration of modernity (Enlightenment paradigm) and anti-modernity (Counter-Enlightenment paradigm) inherent to a number of European intellectuals of the first half of 20th century, with particular emphasis on philosophy of Walter Benjamin (1892-1940). This research introduces a new concept of the "anti-modern modernity", a tool to understand a self-negation of modernity in the past two centuries, including an interwar period of Europe's 20th century.
