Voitkiv P. Virgin forest burozems of the Ukrainian Carpathians.

The analysis of the soil formation factors in virgin forest ecosystems of the Ukrainian Carpathians is presented in the dissertation and the ecological conditions of burozems' formation is characterized. The research of morphology has shown certain differences in indices and features of virgin forest burozems and different forest types, particularly in depth of forest litter, upper humus horizon, structure, colouring and stony soil density. Virgin forest buozems are characterised by high humus, humic-fulvic and fulvic humus type. The analysis of research conducted has shown that burozems of virgin forest ecosystems of the Ukrainian Carpathians are unique, especially valuable soils which need protection and inclusion into the Red Book of Soils.
