The thesis substantiates the scientific foundations of the research into the geo-ecological state of the natural and economic systems of coal-mining regions, which has allowed the author to develop a research algorithm, improve the existing concept of NES and their monitoring programme. The author has developed some constructive geographic suggestions as to the optimization of the state of environment and improvement of the existing system of monitoring in the region in question.
