Zhyginas V. Restructuring Transformational Economy in Context of Contemporary Greening Trends.

The thesis paper explores theoretical, methodological and practical aspects of restructuring transformational in the context of contemporary greening trends, including Ukrainian context. The paper also studies evolution of views on the structure of economy and its transformation, describes the role and place of environmental factors in connection with restructuring processes. Methodology for evaluation of the quality of economy restructuring is presented in the thesis. It is based on such key indicators as structural resource intensity, structural resource productivity and progressiveness of structural changes. It was found that sustainable environmentally balanced development is achieved with the help of structural and technological transformations in accordance with the contemporary environmental-innovative (postindustrial) trends observed in the leading states of the world. The thesis also justifies the need for a comprehensive approach and defines priorities for structural transformation of Ukrainian economy on the basis of combination of the elements of catch-up and postindustrial models of development. The author also developed proposals concerning greening mechanisms for structural transformations in Ukraine that envisage termination of environmental anti-rent for contaminating enterprises and improvement of environmental taxation system. The author also proves that for the purposes of financing structural transformations in Ukraine the greatest role is played by internal investment resources that include budget funds.
