Object of investigation: sheep of the Taurian type of the Ascanian Fine-Fleeced breed of the with different degree of pessiga fibers presence at birth. Aim of investigation: a complex study of technological and qualitative indices of wool, as well as the performance rate of the sheep of the Taurian intrabreed type with different degree of pessiga fibers presence at birth, and a definition of usefulness of selecting new-born lambs by these indices. Methods of investigation: zoo-technical, laboratory, biometric. Theoretic and practical results: methods of evaluation of new-born lambs by characteristics of their wool are developed; the results help to clarify the questions regarding the formation of sheep wool and the age-related and topographical variability. Area of use: sheep of the fine-fleeced breeds.
