Patselya M. Solid approach to expediency of preventative treatment of pregnant women who suffered from syphilis

A retrospective analysis of clinical-serological examination results of pregnant women, who used to suffer from syphilis, has been carried out. Peculiarities of pregnancy course and its result in pregnant women, affected by syphilis infection, were studied. We used an advanced range of laboratory methods of syphilis diagnostics in pregnant women, who had syphilis before or during pregnancy. Analysis of ultrasound investigation and pathomorphological condition of placenta in women - former syphilis patients, was carried out. Treponema pallidum DNA content was determined in blood serum of pregnant women, umbilical cord blood, and placenta samples. Condition and serological pattern of infants was analyzed depending on the term of treatment, undergone by the mother. On the grounds of the performed investigations we have formulated the indications for prophylactic treatment of pregnant women.
