Shorobura M. The comparative characteristics of clinical pathogenetic signs in multiple sclerosis at different age groups

The thesis concerns investigation of the new pathogenetic mechanisms of multiple sclerosis development in children, elaboration of effective diagnostic and prognostic markers of the diseas, and optimal approaches to patients treatment. Peculiarities of clinical course of multiple sclerosis have been investigated, taking into consideration patients age. A leading role of IFN-? in the processes of nervous tissue damage in children with MS, especially in girls, and interconnection of this indicator with clinical manifestations of the disease has been confirmed. For the first time it has been proved that Ig preparations of blood plasma in children with MS possess increased cytotoxic activity concerning human immune leukemic T-lymphocytes in comparison with adult patients, wich is a prognostically advantageous sing. Importance of catalytic property concerning DNA of blood plasma abzymes in children with MS has been determined, and their dependence upon clinical peculiarities of this disease has been proved. Clinical efficacy of treatment of patients suffering from MS with solu-medrol has been substantiated. Key words: multiple sclerosis, children, cytokines, abzymes, DNA.
